Letter from the Alabama Historical Commission
9 JUN 06
Mr Howard Gill
Troopmaster Troop 156
The Alabama Historical Commission would like to thank you, Marcus Puccini II and all of Troop 156 for your outstanding preservation work at Winter Place. The 300 foot long brick wall along Mildred Street is over 100 years old and a key component to the historic fabric of Winter Place. The removal of all vegetation from the wall by Troop 156 was a very important part of the preservation of this great landmark.
Winter Place should be placed on the National Register of Historic Places sometime in the next few weeks. This wonderful old mansion is one of the most historically significant homes in Montgomery, if not the entire state. The preservation efforts of Marcus and all of Troop 156 will be seen and enjoyed for many years to come and has been instrumental in recent public awareness for Winter Place. Thank you again for helping to preserve the history of Alabama.
